Semi-Finals Set for 18s Doubles
The 2nd ranked team of Rajeev Ram (Carmel, IN) and Jonathan Stokke (Hilton Head Island, SC) defeated the 8th seeded team of Ryan Redondo (Carlsbad, CA) and Travis Rettenmaier (Fountain Valley, CA) in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
The 7th seeded team of Ytai Abougzir (Naples, FL) and Alex Bogomolov (Miami, FL) upset the 3rd ranked team of K.C. Corkery (Manhattan Beach, CA) and Sam Warburg (Sacramento, CA) 6-2, 6-4.
The 4th seeded team of Roger Gubser (Laredo, TX) and Drew Hoskins (Los Alamitos, CA) also fell to an underdog Wednesday evening. Todd Widom (Coral Springs, FL) and Jordan Dolberg (Pembroke Pines, FL), seeded 16th, won that contest 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.
14th seeds Brent D'Amico (Aurora, CO) and Philip Sheng (Thousand Oaks, CA), one day after their stunning upset of top seeds Prakash Amritraj and Stephen Amritraj, defeated the number 10 seeds Sean Kelleher (Forty Fort, PA) and Scott Brown (Ballwin, MO) 6-3, 7-5.
D'Amico and Sheng (14) will play Abougzir and Bogomolov (7) in one semi-final. Dolberg and Widom (16) will play Ram and Stokke (2) in the other. Both semi-final matches will be played Friday afternoon at Stowe Stadium.
