MORRISON DOUBLE WINNER AT EXHIBITION

Jeff Morrison may have thought he would have to take on the defending National doubles champions of Ram and Stokke by himself, when Matias Boeker's plane was delayed in Atlanta and he was unable to arrive by exhibition time. But thirty-nine year old Vanderbilt tennis coach Ken Flach, a five-time Grand Slam doubles champion and Olympic gold medalist, stepped in and proved that experience is an essential component of winning.

Despite his pre match comments that his partner Morrison would need to carry him, Flach never dropped serve and looked every bit as sharp as his up-and-coming 23-year-old partner. Neither player lost serve in their 8-3 pro set victory over the number one seeded 18s doubles team.

In a reversal of the usual order, the singles match was played after the doubles. Morrison again came out on top, beating Boeker 8-2, and again was not broken during the match. He showed off the tennis skill that made him the most successful American man at this year's Wimbledon championships. Boeker, a newly-turned pro, also had his share of high-quality moments as he ripped several winners off his strong one-handed backhand.
