Top Seeds Advance in Sunday's 16s Singles and 18s Doubles
Other 16s singles seeds fared better Sunday. Top seed Yevgeny Supeko of Billings, MT overcame a few early jitters to defeat James Dwyer of Peachtree, City, GA 7-6(6), 6-2.
2nd seed Vahid Mirzadeh of Wellington, FL cruised past Andrew Felsenthal of Memphis, TN by the score of 6-1, 6-1. 3rd seed Robert Cameron of Lenoir, TN advanced to the third round by defeating Bobby Deye of Mason, OH 6-2, 6-3. The 4th seed Timothy Neilly looked stronger with every set in his 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1 win over Marty Moore of Purchase, NY.
In the Boys 18s doubles action, all of the top seeds advanced. The number one seeds, Rajeev Ram of Carmel, IN and Jonathon Stokke of Hilton Head, SC, advanced to the fourth round with their 6-3, 6-2 win over Evan Tindell and Brett McKeon, both from Boca Raton, FL. The second seeds, Prakash Amritraj of Encino, CA and partner Stephen Amritraj of Calabasas, CA defeated Nicholas Brunner of Sacramento, CA and Michael Ricks of Orinda, CA. 3rd seeded James Pade of Woodside, CA and Douglas Stewart of Malibu, CA downed the Miami, Florida based team of William Jacome and Alex Ortega 6-3, 6-0.
18s doubles action resumes Tuesday. Monday features the 3rd round of 16s singles in the morning at Stowe Stadium followed by the 3rd round of 18s singles in the afternoon. At the WMU Sorensen Courts, the day begins with the 2nd round of 16s singles Feed-Ins, followed by the 3rd round Qualifying in the 18s singles, and finishing up with the 3rd round of 16s doubles action.
