Bryans Brighten Kalamazoo At Friday Night's Exhibition

The Bryan twins (Bob and Mike) concluded a busy week, which included collecting a bronze at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, by officially opening the 1999 USTA Boys' Nationals here in Kalamazoo. Bob won the singles match against his brother Mike and then the pair defeated the top seeded 18 duo of Tres Davis (Austin, TX) and Alberto Francis (McAllen, TX) in the doubles portion of the event.

The Bryan's of Camarillo, Calif., returned to the city they dominated in 1995 and 1996 to highlight this year's Opening Ceremonies in the National City Bank Exhibition. Since the Bryan's last graced the courts at Stowe Stadium, they spent two years at Stanford where they continued their winning ways before turning pro last summer.

Wayne Bryan charged up a group of Kalamazoo youth with the help of his sons by putting on a terrific tennis clinic prior to the exhibition. It was great to have the Bryan's back in Kalamazoo, they bring a lot to the sport.
