USTA BOYS' 18 & 16 SUPER NATIONALS NEWS UPDATE

Top seeds Advance to Championship Finals

Top seeds Phillip King in the 18?s and Rajeev Ram in 16?s advanced to Sunday?s finals in the USTA Boys? 18 and 16 Super National Hard Court Championships in straight sets.

King of Long Beach CA beat the No. 4 seed Bo Hodge of Athens GA, 6-4, 6-1. King has rolled through this tournament with straight set victories on his way to what may be back-to-back championship titles in the 18-and-under-age-division. His opponent will be this year?s no. 2 seed and last year?s 16?s champion Robby Ginepri of Marietta GA. Ginepri won his semifinal match over No. 5 seed Ytai Abougzir of Boca Raton FL in a three set match. He lost the first set 1-6 then turned it around to win the next two, 6-1,6-1.

Rajeev Ram of Carmel IN, No. 1 in the 16-and-under-age-division, has breezed through the tournament with straight set matches to reach the finals. He will play the No. 4 seed, Joshua Cohen for the coveted 16s title of junior tennis. Ram ousted the No. 11 seed Mathew Cloer of Linville NC in the semis, 6-3, 6-2. Cohen won a hard-fought match over the No. 2 seed Prakash Amritraj of Encino CA, 5-7, 7-6 (1), 6-2.
