Taylor Dent To Face Andy Roddick In National City Bank Exhibition

The future of American tennis will be on display Friday night in the National City Bank Exhibition at Stowe Stadium. Timon Corwin, tournament director of the USTA Boys 16 and 18 Super Nationals, announced on Wednesday that Taylor Dent, 20, will play Andy Roddick. Dent, who won the National Championship in Boys 16 Singles in Kalamazoo in 1996, is currently ranked 107 in the world. He recently made the quarterfinals at the Mercedes-Benz Cup in Los Angeles, beating 13th-ranked Carlos Moya of Spain in the first round. Dent created quite a stir at Wimbledon this year, when he lost a tough five set match to fifth seeded Australian Lleyton Hewitt. During that match several of his serves were clock at over 140 miles per hour, with one reaching 144 mph. The radar guns installed at Stowe's Court One for this year's exhibition will certainly get a workout, as Roddick is also establishing a reputation as a big server.

The National City Bank Exhibition is held in conjunction with the opening ceremonies of the USTA Boys 16 and 18 Super Nationals, being held for the 59th consecutive in Kalamazoo. The exhibition begins at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, call the tournament office at (616) 337-7343.
